English alphabet consist of 26 letters, which are : A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z unlike the modern Malay or Indonesian alphabet. With a few exceptions, such as the distinction between // and /e/, which are both represented as E/e, the Malay alphabet uses phonemic orthography, which spells words according to how they are spoken.

Malay orthography is the system of writing the Malay language using the Latin alphabet. It consists of 26 letters, the same as the English alphabet, with the addition of several additional characters to represent specific sounds in the Malay language. These additional characters include:

  • Ç/ç: represents the sound “ch” as in “cheese”
  • Ñ/ñ: represents the sound “ny” as in “canyon”
  • Ŋ/ŋ: represents the sound “ng” as in “sing”
  • Ə/ə: represents the schwa sound as in the second syllable of “sofa”

It’s important to note that there are several variations of Malay orthography used in different regions, such as Indonesian, Malaysian, and Brunei Malay, which may differ slightly in their use of additional characters or diacritical marks. Bet online gaming.
