H NI — On April 3, Vit Nam earned their second victory at the 32nd SEA Games, moving them to the top of Group B. However, coach Philippe Troussier believes that his young team’s best is yet to come.
Nguyen Văn Tùng and Nguyen Thái Sn for Vietnam contributed to their 3-1 victory over Singapore at the Prince Stadium in Phnom Penh, while Mohamed Ilhan of Singapore and V Tin Long of Vietnam each scored an own goal to tally the final score.
Coach Troussier was pleased with his team’s performance, praising their capacity to carry out their strategies and collaborate harmoniously and productively.

Viet Nam’s goals came from Phm Hi Yn and Nguyen Bch Thùy, while Malaysian Jaciah Jumlis scored an own goal.
Captain Huynh and other players, like Chung, acknowledged missed opportunities and admitted Vietnam’s subpar performance. “Everything would be a lot better if they could turn them into goals.”
The coach attributed the poor performance of top scorer Nh to the difference in weather and temperature conditions.
“Nh is used to the cool weather in Europe because she plays in Portugal, but she has not yet adapted to the high heat and humidity here. It’s unfortunate that she missed her chance, but I hope she will quickly adjust and reach her peak.”
Starting with confidence would have prevented conceding a goal, and Vietnam improved in the second half by preventing further goals.
Group leaders Vietnam and Myanmar secured victories, with Myanmar defeating Philippines 1-0 in the later match on May 3. Third-placed Philippines will play bottom-placed Malaysia. VNS
